Yes folks, all those pieces you see are 1" squares of dissected photographs.  It was a project in my freshman photo class and is one of the better leftovers from that year.  That year, it was featured in the Ilford Photo Instructor Magazine, the page from which became a permanent decoration among my teacher's wall of fame clippings.
